Wheesung lovers in the US once again got the chance to see his live performance Friday night (June 19, 2009) at the Disney Concert Hall in LA. Got the chance to hear some of the concert feedback from fellow Wheesung addict Malu and Yan. Thank for sharing to me what happened.

Wheesung sang 10 wonderful songs; Yan did a wonderful job of remembering the order of the songs. Wheesung opened the stage with his super hit song Insomnia followed by Love is Delicious, Choco Luv and Fading Star, The Day We Meet Again, Narak, A Walk in The Sky, Andwaenayo, With Me and Incurable Disease. I know how it feels to want more of Wheesung, so hearing just 10 songs is really not enough to feed a Wheesung-hungry soul.
It was strict at the venue that cameras are not allowed, however someone got the luck to video the above performance secretly. Thanks to emogrlx for sharing this in You Tube. Hats off to your courage.
I can hear the screaming in the two videos… I can imagine myself screaming out my lungs had I been there. Hearing his voice.. I’ll never get enough of him =)
Malu did share one annoying incident during that concert (aside from the cameras that are not allowed inside the hall). Right after the last performance of Wheesung, Lena Park entered and then started to talk. She said something that is suppose to mean thank you for allowing Wheesung to show his talent and thanking the audience for supporting him.

Well what can I say? Maybe its the sunbae thing since Lena is senior than Wheesung. In a non-Korean context it’s a bit proud to say that as if your talking to someone whom you think is of lower skills or ability than you. It’s not different from saying — I being popular or number 1 is thanking you all for showing the same support to this person. I am just giving Lena the benefit of the doubt… and that its the concept of sunbae that prompted her to say those lines because at this very point in time, I suppose Wheesung is far popular than her or even in the context of achievements I guess Wheesung is at par. So it really must be the sunbae thing unless Lena thinks she is still very popular nowadays.
Credits to Yan for the pictures.

The audience was screaming loud for Wheesung, like when he said “-korean- Ahn Dwe Na Yo -korean-” (excuse my korean) The crowd immediately screamed like no tomorrow, and I was still sitting there looking at Wheesung thinking “I wish I can understand korean.”, same goes to “With Me”. Oh, and a girl in the audience yelled “Sarangheyo” to Wheesung when he was talking, and Wheesung said something sarangheyo in return…and the audience started screaming again.
When Wheesung left the stage after Incurable Disease, the audience was yelling Encore! Encore! (not enough of him apparently) but Lena Park came on stage. Okay, so I guess maybe it was because I was waiting for Wheesung to come back out that Lena Park’s performance was a little long. It would be better if I can actually understand korean. Lena Park did performed one more song eventhough she finished her ‘last song’, the audience was still clapping/cheering, and some are leaving, but the lights were still dimmed. I was still sitting waiting for Wheesung to come out because I had a feeling that it wasn’t over. I heard the people sitting in the balcony section yelling Wheesung after Lena Park’s last song. But She came back on stage with one more song thanking the audience that if it weren’t for the audience, she wouldn’t be able to come back out and sing. I seriously thought that Wheesung would perform one song with her, like a duet, but nothing. Good thing he did came back after her performance but only saying good-byes. I had my final last screaming in the concert. Lena Park said that the concert was divided up the 2 hours this way to show the different styles and personalities between the two singers. I’m guessing so with that, there will be no duets. Wheesung 1 hour + Lena Park 1 hour 30+ min = 2 hours.
Sorry if this offended anybody, but this is just how I felt during/after the concert.
cool thanks so much for your insight on the concert…I’m sooooooo jealous I totally should have gone to this concert instead of the victory concert which sucked so bad!
It’s awesome that u got some pictures and videos for us to see, loved the videos and the pictures too!! thanks for posting them!
Yes, I think that the whole Lena Park thanking the fans for welcoming Wheesung is more of a cultural thing. Which I find very interesting, because @ Popseoul She referred to Wheesung as “hoobae” but then Wheesung refers to her as “noona” she’s older than him, but I think that he has been in the entertainment business longer than her…so confusing but I guess to us non Korean ppl it can be confusingly, while I agree that Wheesung is much more popular than she is…but Wheesung is way to humble to have said anything to her, even if he was feeling offended by what she said.
I still don’t understand why she has more time to perform than he did through when Wheesung is clearly much more popular than her. I’m guessing maybe it had something to do with LA being her hometown and maybe they felt since she’s Korean-American she could draw in more people.
Yan thanks for your insight on the concert, and if Wheesung is planning a concert in LA by all means please let us know, because I may come and join you!
Lena called him hoobae because Whee is junior than her in terms of age and in the industry she debuted 1998. So I am guessing this is where she stands advance compared to Wheesung not necessarily the popularity.
I am totally envious as well… all you guys are fortunate to see him perform live.
Thanks a lot Yan, Wheesung always cool every his performance and ten wonderful songs there are almost my favorite songs.Thks again. //>….<//
thanks janey for explaining that to me. Yeah, maybe me and my friends misinterpreted what Lena said, we jsut thought she should have given Wheesung more credits. Sorry if i offend anybody, but i would have left right after wheesung’s last song had i known he’ll not come back to do another one. Me and my friends were there not for Lena but for Wheesung. If ever he’s going to do another concert(hopefully a solo) I’ll be right there showing him my support. All i can say is Wheesung’s performance that night was PRICELESS, beyond our expectations.
Thanks!!
Yeah, I agree with you…I mean that Wheesung had a shorter performance than Lena’s.
And too bad I missed another concert of Wheesung…why don’t Korean artists go to Europe? Europe loves Japan (well, at least many fangirls like me in France, UK, Germany, etc lol) and some Japanese rockers know that and go here. Why not Korea? We love South Korea too. Ok ok, I know the US is a big big market…the biggest.
